PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the pressure loss by ion exchange resin by flattening a resin room for storing the ion exchange resin in a washing machine having a water softener by ion exchange resin. SOLUTION: A ratio (L/d) of the height L to the diameter (d) of a resin room 33 for storing iron exchange resin 43 is from 0.13 to 0.18. A rectifying members 61 is mounted in a lower room and partitions are mounted in the resin room 33c so that service water flows through the ion exchange resin evenly. The inner diameter of a salt water outlet 30c is from 1.5 mm to 2 mm. Accordingly, at least 5 lit. flow of water per minute is secured even when the pressure of service water is low. By letting salt water flow through the ion exchange resin layer for at least 45 seconds, the ion removing capacity of the ion exchange resin is regenerated. |
