PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of automatically confirming that a locking bar for fixing a door or a lid is correctly seated in a normal position of a locking bar bracket without being influenced by the surrounding dust or the like. SOLUTION: This apparatus for confirming the seating of an oven lid of a coke oven is composed of a lifting and lowering actuator 6, a bracket lower position locating block 7 for coming into contact with the lower end of a locking bar bracket 4 and locating the lower end thereof, a locking bar lower end locating guide 8 pushed up with a spring 13 in a spring case 11, coming into contact with the lower end of the oven lid locking bar 3 and locating the lower end thereof and a positional detector 9 capable of turning on a switch lever 9a with a striker 10 in a state of the oven lid locking bar 3 seating in the locking bar bracket 4.
