PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing artificial quartz by which an alkali solution is controlled to improve the productivity of the artificial quarty by disposing upper and lower two adjacent quartz seeds at positions arranged on the same perpendicular axis and in states approximately parallel to the perpendicular axis and relatively rotated only at a constant angle on the perpendicular axis. SOLUTION: This method for producing artificial quartz comprises recrystallizing raw material quartz dissolved in an alkali solution in the lower portion of a container on quartz seeds 3 in the upper portion. Therein, upper and lower two quartz seeds 3 are arranged along the perpendicular axis. A multiplicity of the quartz seed groups are disposed. In each quartz seed group, the upper and lower adjacent quartz seeds are disposed in approximate parallel to the perpendicular axis in a state relatively rotated only at an angle of about 90 deg. on the perpendicular axis. Thereby, a convection current is generated in the alkali solution by the hydrothermal synthetic method, and the convection current generated on the neighbors of both the surfaces of the quartz seed 3 is divided into two flows, thus uniforming the convection currents to efficiently grow the artificial quartz.
