PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic cleaning apparatus for water channel for automatically and periodically cleaning a water channel provided in a sedimentation basin in waterworks or a sewer treatment plant. SOLUTION: At a carriage constituted to move forward and backward by arranging wheels 4 respectively at both right and left ends of a rear wheel axle 3 and a front wheel axle 2 respectively, there are provided a cleaning brushes 16, 16 slidingly in contacting with the wall surfaces of a water channel, a solar battery panel 6, batteries 7, a drive motor and a control section; and a gear installed at the rear wheel axle 3 is interlocked and coupled to the drive motor by a coupling device; moreover, a forward-backward switching means is arranged to perform cleaning work for the water channel by automatically repeating forward and backward movement in this automatic cleaning apparatus S for the water channel. Thus, for using the water channel as rails, two sheets of guide plates g are arranged to the front wheel axle 2 and the rear wheel axle 3 respectively with an internal almost equal to the width of water channel, and the automatic cleaning apparatus S for water channel moving forward and backward along the water channel D is provided.
