PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a taping apparatus at a low cost, which is made smaller in size and in which the reliability of replacement of an electronic component is improved in the case where a defective component is replaced with a non-defective component by detecting whether the electric components loaded into respective component storing portions in a carrier tape are non-defective ones. SOLUTION: In this apparatus, the loading of electronic components 4 into respective component storing portions 1a in a carrier tape 1 which transfers the electronic components 4 in the longitudinal direction of the carrier tape 1 is performed by a loading means 2 for each of a plurality of component storing portions. In the course of transfering the electronic components 4 in a direction in which they are transferred, whether a shape of the external appearance of the electronic component stored in each component storing portion is non-defective is detected by a checking means using a camera 5. In the case where a defective component is detected, this defective component is removed from the component storing portion by a supplementing means 6, and the electronic component in the rearmost component storing portion among the plurality of component storing portions, into which the plurality of electronic components are simultaneously loaded, is taken out and loaded into the component storing portion emptied after the removal of the defective component.
