PRODUCTION OF CELLULOSIC FIBER-CONTAINING CLOTH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain cellulosic fiber-containing cloth excellent in shape-stabilizing performance such as crease resistance or shrink resistance by pre-treating cellulosic fiber-containing cloth with high-pressure steam and subjecting the pretreated steam to crosslinking treatment so that crosslinking index becomes a specific range. SOLUTION: Cloth containing at least 10 wt.% cellulosic fiber is pretreated with high pressure saturated steam heated at 120-200 deg.C under 2-16 kg/cm2 pressure and then subjected to crosslinking treatment by using a crosslinking agent such as formaldehyde so that crosslinking index represented by the formula, crosslinking index = (A-B) (A is a coefficient of moisture absorption at 30 deg.C and 90% relative humidity after crosslinking treatment; B is a coefficient of moisture absorption at 20 deg.C and 65% relative humidity after crosslinking treatment) is 1-4, preferably 2-3.
