PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller, in which a die split part is not formed on the surface of the roller. SOLUTION: In the roller, the outer periphery of a mandrel 2 is covered with an elastic body and furthermore its outer periphery is covered with a sleeve 3 consisting of a thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic elastomer. Rounded parts are formed in the end parts of the roller and the roller is integrally molded by a mold. A die split part is not formed in both end parts containing the rounded parts. In the production method, the mandrel 2 and the sleeve 3 consisting of thermoplastic resin or thermoplastic elastomer longer in length than the roller are inserted into the body of the cylindrical die. A piece part 4, into which the shaft of the mandrel 2 is inserted from both ends of the shaft of the mandrel 2, is fitted into the body of the die and an elastic material is poured into the space between the mandrel 2 and the sleeve 3. Then, primary vulcanization is performed and slant parts of the sleeve 3 are formed from the end parts of the roller formed by primary vulcanization and the rounded parts in the end parts of the roller are formed by secondary vulcanization performed after mold release. |
