PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of an article holding device and a conveyor, and to reduce a load to a conveyor driving motor by providing a base body and a holding body being arranged on the base body and holding an article, and arranging a roller in a position orthogonal to the transfer direction in a bottom part of the base body. SOLUTION: In an article holding device suitablty used for a filling packing line, a pleated skirt 11 is provided a holding body 12 for forming an article holding hole 13 for holding an article such as a carton and a bottle, and side plates 14, 15 are arranged on the transfer directional left/right both sides on a base body of the pleated skirt 11. A metallic plate 16 for a proximity sensor for detecting a position of the article holding device and the arranging direction of the pleated skirt 11 is arranged in a prescribed position on the side plate 14, and the side plates 14, 15 are classified by color to easily visually confirm the arranging direction of the pleated skirt. Rollers 17, 18 are pivoted by a bottom part of the pleated skirt 11 by roller shafts 19, 20, and stoppers 21, 22 for holding a central position of the roller 17 are arranged on one roller shaft 19.
