PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet having high gloss in which blocking and mottling are eliminated. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording sheet has at least one ink receiving layer formed on a support and contains amino group inactivated gelatin and cellulose ether substituted with an alkyl group and/or an hydroxy alkyl group. Preferably, cellulose ether is hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and amino group inactivated gelatin is phthalated gelatin.
