METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR COMPRESSION-CODING VIDEO SIGNAL

PURPOSE: A method and a system for compression-coding a video signal are provided to allow one field to encode its own data and allow the other field to encode a difference component between the two fields using employing similarity of data between the fields. CONSTITUTION: One field of an input frame is delayed in unit of field to provide delayed field data. Difference component data between the other field data of the frame and the delayed field data is detected. The data of one field and the difference component data are alternately selected according to a field discrimination signal to provide the selected data. The selected data is encoded according to a predetermined compression encoding algorithm.
