PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the release of a supercooling state inside a supercooling unit in ice storage with ice made by releasing the supercooled state of the supercooled water. SOLUTION: In the method of ice thermal storage, wherein water 4 which is a heat storage medium is supercooled in liquid phase down to subzero temperature by heat change with a low temperature coolant 2 in a supercooling unit 44 and ice is stored inside an ice thermal storage tank 8 by changing the water 4 in phase into ice 7 by releasing the supercooled state of the water 4, the water 4 introduced into the supercooling unit 44 is pressurized to keep the freezing point of water where water phase changes into ice below zero, and after the water 4 is cooled without freezing heat exchange with the low temperature coolant 2 below zero but above the freezing point, the ice is stored in the ice thermal storage tank 8 changing the phase of the water into the ice by releasing the pressure blowing from the supercooling unit 44.
