PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plane display device which is excellent in assembly wokability and can be reduced in thickness and weight. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal display panel 10 and a surface light source unit 20 which are laminated and arranged on a frame 30 made of a resin. A metallic bezel 40 of a rectangular shape is joined to the frame 30 to sandwich and hold the liquid crystal panel and the surface light source unit 20 between itself and the frame 30. The bezel 46 is joined to the frame 30 by fitting its one long side part to the corresponding long side part of the frame 30 and engaging the other long side part with the corresponding long side part of the frame 30.
