PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out determination in a short time by a simple operation without using any dioxin by performing determination on the basis of an adsorption degree of an adsorptive substance to alumina. SOLUTION: In a batch method, an adsorption process is carried out by adding a predetermined amount of alumina to a predetermined amount of an adsorptive substance solution and mixing and shaking the mixture. Subsequently, an absorbance of an original solution and that of the shaken solution are measured, and these measured values are substituted into an expression for finding an adsorption degree of the adsorptive substance to alumina. The results are applied to a calibration curve representing a relationship between a moisture content in alumina and an adsorption degree for finding the moisture content. In addition, a minimum adsorption degree of the adsorptive substance for providing alumina with activity suitable for measurement of dioxins can be determined. As the absorptive substance, a compound having a 5-7 membered unsaturated aromatic ring is available, and a substance in which two or three 5-7 membered unsaturated aromatic rings are condensed or bound via a coupling bond or a spacer is preferable.
