A vehicle comprising an engine compartment, an opening on the engine compartment and a retractable extension cord apparatus located within the engine compartment. The apparatus has a housing in which the cord is located and a reeling means for allowing movement of the cord inward and outward from th e housing. A is mount arranged for mounting the housing in the engine compartment of the vehicle and a plug is located in the engine compartment and attached to the housing having an accessory end in which a plurality of cords can be attache d. An exit portion of the housing is positioned such that the cord directed in a specific direction and at least one eyelet which receives the cord from the exit portion and guides the cord through the engine compartment of the vehicle to the opening of the engine compartment so that the cord can be attached to an outlet for activating accessories. The reeling means is arranged to pull the cord into the housing . The plug has a cord which allows the plug to be mounted in the engine compartmen t in an appropriate position so that more than one accessory can be attached. The exit portion is located on the housing in a downward position so that the cord is extracted in a downward direction from the housing and a first eyelet is located below the housing in linewith the exit portion to guide the cord, a second eyelet is located at a right angle relative to the first eyelet so that the cord can be guided to t he opening defining a grill on the vehicle out of the engine compartment, and the secon d eyelet is arranged to have an opening smaller than the end of the cord so that the cord does not reel completely into the housing and so that the cord is accessible to an operator.
