PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily provide high detection sensitiveness and excellent accuracy without causing any condensation of a carrier by evaporating water after a water-absorbent material is impregnated with a solution containing a buffer solution. SOLUTION: This material, containing a buffer action constituent, is used for a dripping pad or a base material for a sample receiving part in an immunochromatography test piece. For example, a buffer of pH 7-10 is selected from a phosphate buffer, a borate buffer, and a Tris-HCl buffer, a for example. A holding amount of the buffer action constituent is 10-50μmol/cm2. The water- absorbent material is taken as nonwoven fabric and selected from among surfactant, saccharose, protein, etc., and inorganic salt. In this constitution, the water absorbing material can be provided when it is dried for evaporating water after it is impregnated with the buffer-containing solution.
