PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with a recognizing function capable of suitably operating to a viewer. SOLUTION: A display device 1 such as a television monitor is provided with a viewer's iris recognizing camera 2 for photographing the iris pattern of the eye of a viewer 4 and a viewer specifying means 3 for specifying the viewer based on the iris pattern photographed by the camera 2. In a case when the viewer is an infant or nonage, when a picture bad influence in terms of education, it is possible to switch the channel, to generate warning and to cut off the power source.
