PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal cell which prevents display failure due to air bubbles by forming a filler layer which can eliminate the air bubbles in a liquid crystal layer and which penetrates at least one of substrates in a region except for a display part of the liquid crystal cell. SOLUTION: An opening 10 is formed penetrating at least one of the substrates in the region except for the display part of a liquid crystal element. A filler layer which can eliminate bubbles in a liquid crystal layer, such as the filler layer which can eliminate the bubbles in the liquid crystal layer when pressure in the liquid crystal cell is released, is formed in the opening 10. The filler layer is preferably covered with a tight seal 8 to prevent direct intrusion of external air or water. Therefore, even when a gas intruding from the outside into the liquid crystal element produces the bubbles, the pressure in the cell is released to rapidly eliminate the bubbles. After the pressure is released, the intrusion of the gas from the outside is suppressed, as well as permeation of the gas is rapidly suppressed. Further, the obtained element has durability against shock.
