PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method capable of stably manufacturing a gas discharge panel wherein the apex parts of barrier ribs are entirely tightly fitted to a panel substrate in manufacturing the gas discharge panel such as a PDP. SOLUTION: When an envelope 40 of a PDP is formed and thereafter entered into a heating furnace 51, and a process for sealing the circumferential parts of both panels 10, 20 together by the use of a sealing material is carried out, the process is carried out while adjusting the pressure so as to set the internal pressure of the envelope 40 lower than the external pressure thereof. The pressure adjustment is carried out, for instance, by exhausting gas inside the envelope 40 through a piping member 26 by a vacuum pump 52. Thereby, both panels are sealed in a form pressed from the outside, so that the apex parts of barrier ribs and the front panel 10 are sealed in a form entirely tightly fitted together.
