PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture reading method for reading a highly precise picture regardless of the change in the density due to the temperature change of an original. SOLUTION: In an area CCD scanner, color separation filters 70R, 70G, 70B and 70IR are sequentially arranged on an optical axis L by turning a turret 80 with respect to the picture frame of a photograph film 22 stopping at the time of reading a picture. The photograph film 22 is irradiated with light emitted from a halogen lamp 64 as the light of R, G, B and IR and the picture is read. A pixel affected by the scar and the dust of the photograph film 22 is detected by irradiating the photograph film 22 with IR. Then, the pixel is corrected by interpolating it on picture data of R, G and B. The visible light transmission factor of the picture frame changes by the irradiation of IR but the picture of R, G and B is read (irradiated) prior to the irradiation of IR. Thus, picture reading is not affected by the change of the visible light transmission factor. Namely, the precise picture is read. |
