PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a light receiving/emitting element provided in an adaptor and an optical fiber at low connection loss. SOLUTION: The connecting end face 4a of the optical fiber 4 fixedly inserted into a ferule 5 is made nearly flush with the connecting end face 5a of the ferule 5; on this connecting end face 5a side of the ferule 5, a door part 20 is provided which is freely rotatable around an axis 19 in the direction crossing the optical axis of the optical fiber 4; and when the ferule 5 is not inserted into a receptacle connector (adaptor) 1 on the opposite connecting side, a closed state is formed in which the door part 20 covers the connecting end face 4a of the optical fiber 4 by means of a pressing force of a spring 21. When the ferule 5 is inserted into the adaptor 1, a force in the door opening direction is received from the adaptor 1 side, the door part 20 is rotated in the opening direction against the pressing force, exposes the connecting end face 4a of the optical fiber 4. With this structure, the optical fiber 4 and the light receiving/emitting element 3 are optically connected, in a state where the connecting end face 4a of the exposed optical fiber 4 is nearly in contact with the receiving face of the light receiving element 3.
