PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an EL display device with high operation performance and reliability. SOLUTION: LDD areas 15a-15d of TFT 201 for switching formed in a pixel are formed so as not to overlap gate electrodes 19a, 19b, and structured placing importance on decrease in an off-current value. Moreover, an LDD area 33 of TFT 202 for current control is formed to partly overlap a gate electrode 35, and is structured placing importance on prevention of hot carrier injection and decrease in the off-current value. Thus, the operation performance and reliability are improved by properly structuring the TFT according to required functions.
