PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve energy saving, and also to prevent an excessive over-exposure phenomenon from occurring on the short distance side, by predicting an exposure value of strobe light and disabling unnecessary strobe light based on the predicted value. SOLUTION: A photometry part 18 measures brightness of external light within a photographing field of view. A CPU 40 measures a distance up to an object by an AF projector 14 and an AF photo-detector 16, and calculates an Ev value (exposure value) which is a control value of a shutter 19. Next, the CPU calculates an Av value for determining a timing for making a stroboscopic device 17 flash light. The Av value corresponds to a numerical aperture for obtaining a target exposure value. From the exposure value (Ev value), an exposure value range capable of controlling strobe light is obtained. And, strobe light is disabled, when the Av value is smaller the minimum value in the Av value control range by a fixed value or more, as long as the photometric value shows that a sufficient exposure value can be obtained only from external light without the strobe light. |
