PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method in which a thermoplastic resin film can be uniformly shrunk even when a heat-shrinkable film has irregular shrinking force due to heating and a phase difference plate having small irregularity in the phase difference and excellent in heat resistance can be stably and efficiently produced. SOLUTION: In the production method of a phase difference plate, a heat shrinkable film is adhered to one or both surfaces of a thermoplastic resin film containing 1.2 to 36 mg/cm3 volatile component, and the thermoplastic resin film is shrunk by the shrinking force of the heat shrinkable film due to heating. Since the thermoplastic resin film contains a specified amount of the volatile component and has a low modulus of photoelasticity, the resin film can be uniformly shrunk even when the shrinking force of the heat shrinkable film due to heating is not uniform, and therefore, a phase difference plate with small irregularity in the phase difference due to irregular shrinking can be stably obtained. Thus, a liquid crystal display device having excellent visibility such as contrast in a wide viewing angle range can be obtained, to form the obtained display device that changes in the display characteristics by the viewing angle based on the double refraction of the liquid crystal cell can be highly compensated and visibility such as the contrast in a wide viewing anble range is excellent. |
