PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make normally performable the subsequent serial communications even when an option unit is removed from an electronic device without turning off the power supply of the electronic device main body. SOLUTION: The array order of slave station having the states '1' of bit 2 among the data on lower 4 bits stored in a memory is scanned and retrieved via the loops of steps S1-S4. When the first normal communication processing is not decided after the initialization communication processing, the retrieved array order of slave stations is compared with the array order of slave stations stored in the memory (S3→S5→S7). If the difference is recognized between both array orders, it is required to perform again the initialization communication processing (S8).
