PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator to be formed in a compact manner and excellent in heat transfer property, and high in durability. SOLUTION: An evaporation core 6 is formed such that a hanging bell-form inner cylinder part 1 and an outer cylinder part 2 to cover the outer periphery thereof are closed at their lower ends to constitute an evaporation core 6, and the outer periphery of the evaporation core 6 is covered with a casing 11. An outlet and inlet pipe 8 is inserted ire the central part of the inner cylinder part 1 and an inside gas passage 12 is formed in the inner peripheral side of the inner cylinder part 1. An outside gas passage 9 is formed between the outer periphery of the outer cylinder part 2 and the casing 11, and inside and outside gas passages 12 and 9 are caused to effect intercommunication in an U-shape in cross section below the evaporation core 6.
