PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to effectively utilize the memory capacity of a tape by intermittently reading out data from a memory means in such a manner that the moment data rate of the prescribed data is determined as a first data rate and the average data rate of the data as a second data rate. SOLUTION: The accumulated digital data quantity of a memory section is changed to a saw tooth form by the intermittent operations of a data reproducing device. The data reproducing device continuously reads out the digital data at the second data rate from the memory section and executes the intermittent reproduction to alternately repeat the reproducing from a memory medium and the pause of the reproducing. Then, the first data rate is higher than the second data rate. The first data rate is converted into the second data rate suitable for various kinds of external apparatus by a data rate conversion section, by which the output by the external apparatuses having the second data rate different from the data rate to the memory medium of the data reproducing device is made possible.
