PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the time-out time to each host computer performing data transfer and to automatically set an optimum time-out time on a target releasing a bus when the elapsed time from starting data transfer exceeds the time-out time to the host computer performing data transfer before completing the data transfer. SOLUTION: When a disk processor 1 starts data transfer with a host computer 8-n, the processor 1 collects the data transfer start time from a clock 3. In the case the numbers of REQ and ACK signals do not become matched during the data transfer, the computer 8-n issues SCSI bus reset. The processor 1 updates the time-out time of the computer 8-n stored in a time-out time storing part 5 on the basis of the time from starting the data transfer until receiving the SCSI bus reset.
