PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a parallax image pickup device and a camera that can detect a parallax amount with high accuracy so as to obtain accurate depth information of an object. SOLUTION: The parallax image pickup device and the camera are provided with an optical image forming section 2 with a single optical axis forming an image of an object, a light receiving section where a plurality of light receiving elements are placed and on which the image of the object is formed through the optical image forming section 12, a light passing section 14 with 1st and 2nd openings to pass the light through the optical image forming section 12, and an optical separation section that allows different light receiving elements to simultaneously pick up a 1st image passing through the 1st opening and a 2nd image passing through the 2nd opening. Then the parallax image pickup device and the camera simultaneously pick up a plurality of parallax images obtained when viewing an object from different points. |
