PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive device which is improved so as to fit enough to actual use, while the operation of each part can be tested efficiently by the self diagnostic function. SOLUTION: In the disk drive device for testing the operation of each part based on a self diagnostic program and deciding the final normal/defective condition based on the decision result of each operation test, it is provided with a storage means 33 for storing the result of the final decision of the normal/defective condition and a control means 32 for controlling such that the self diagnostic program is not executed in such a state that the decision result as normal is being stored in this storage means 33.
