PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely inform a user about a portable telephone set left behind, when the user leaves from an automobile or in the case of outing without the need for revising the configuration of the portable telephone set itself. SOLUTION: This device for preventing a portable telephone set from being left includes a telephone set holder 10 that holds the telephone set in an interior of an automobile, a control means 13 that receives power from an accessory unit use power supply 15 switched on/off by an engine key or an auxiliary power supply 16c that generates a prescribed voltage, even where the engine key is turned off, a sensor 11 that detects the presence of the telephone set in the telephone set holder 10 to give a detection signal to the control means 13, and a notice means 14 that is driven by the control means 13. When the engine key is turned off and the sensing signal from the sensor 11 indicates 'presence of set', a notice means 14 is activated to notify of the telephone set left behind.
