PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply with stopping operation which is carried out, only when an overload state continues to be in a range above a maximum load power, in which a protective means does not operate in the power supply. SOLUTION: First and second output voltages V1 and V2 are detected and compared with a normal operation signal P2 from a host system 6 by using a comparing circuit 4, and an output signal is fed to a delay circuit 5, when there is an abnormal state. Only when the abnormality is continued, is a switching element Tr2 operated to stop a power supply unit 7 through a primary control circuit 1. A protective means, that does not operate in a transient overload state at starting of the power supply unit 7 and operates at a continuously abnormal state of the output voltage, is provided. Then, the operation of the power supply unit 7 is stopped, when an overload state is continued in the range exceeding a maximum load power, in which the protective means does not operate in the power supply.
