PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the corrosion of a metallic reflecting layer comprising Ag or an alloy of Ag and another metal without requiring a new step by incorporating an organic compound forming a chelate compound by nitrogen or oxygen coordination to Ag into a protective layer adjacent to the reflecting layer. SOLUTION: A recording layer 2 comprising an organic or inorganic recording material is disposed on a transparent substrate 1 and a metallic reflecting layer 3 and one or more protective layers 4 are successively formed on the recording layer 2. The protective layers 4 contain a small or very small amount of a corrosion inhibitor in a resin and the corrosion inhibitor is an organic compound capable of forming a chelate compound with Ag. A nitrogen or oxygen ligand having a high effect as a corrosion inhibitor to Ag is preferably used. The corrosion of the Ag reflecting layer is prevented and the objective low-cost optical information recording medium having high reliability is obtained without requiring a new step. |
