PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent contrast in a method for driving a quick response STN liquid crystal. SOLUTION: This drive method is constituted of a memory means storing plural rows of the display data, a function generation means 22 generating a drive function of a row electrode, an operation means operating the outputs of these means, a column electrode drive means 18 driving a column electrode according to the output of the operation means and a row electrode drive means 24 driving a row electrode according to the row electrode drive function. Since operation object are several rows part, the circuit scale of the memory means, the operation means, etc. is reduced. Further, a voltage applied to a matrix becomes average in a period when the row electrode drive function has values of 1, -1, and the drive suitable for quick response is realized. |
