PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the partial formation of a low resistance region on the surface of a photoreceptor and to prevent the occurrence of defects such as a white band and voids by laminating an organic photosensitive layer and a protective layer on an electrically conductive substrate and filling recessed parts such as pinholes or cracks present on the surface of the protective layer with an insulating material to form a smooth surface. SOLUTION: An organic photosensitive layer 30 and a protective layer 33 are successively laminated on an electrically conductive substrate 1 and recessed parts such as pinholes or cracks present in the surface of a carbon or carbon- base film as the protective layer 33 are filled with an insulating material 35. A positive type photoresist is, e.g. used as the insulating material 35. The photoresist is formed on the entire surface of the protective layer 33, irradiated with UV and developed with a prescribed developing solution. By this development, the photoresist except that in the recessed parts is removed. Since the size of the pinholes or cracks is small, the viscosity of the photoresist is preferably <=50 cP. |
