PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make sufficiently removable a printing material from a sheet on which an image is formed of the printing material by speedily using a printing material removal device even when the temperature of the removal liquid stored in an immersing tank is low in the case of decreasing the sticking force of the printing material by immersing the sheet into the immersing tank storing the removal liquid. SOLUTION: In this printing material removal device, a sheet 1 on which an image has been formed with a printing material is immersed into an immersing tank 20 storing a removal liquid 21, thereby decreasing the sticking force of the printing material and removing the printing material from the sheet. In this case, the device is provided with a heat means 23 for heating the removal liquid stored in the immersing tank, a liquid temperature detection means 22 for detecting the temperature of the removal liquid in the immersing tank, and a controller 26 for controlling the time that the sheet is immersed in the removal liquid based on the temperature of the removal liquid detected by the liquid temperature detection means.
