PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm a depth of field by constituting a single lens reflex camera so that the brightness of an image in an electronic view finder may not be reduced even in the case of executing a diaphragming operation. SOLUTION: The camera is provided with an image pickup means 16 for picking up an object image, an image display means 19 for displaying the picked up image, a diaphragming means 12 as a diaphragm for a photographic optical system at a time other than a photographing time, and a detecting means 14 for detecting a diaphragm value. In this case, the camera is provided with a control means 11 for calculating a control coefficient in accordance with the diaphragm value when the diaphragming operation is executed, and for controlling the amplitude of the output signal of the image pickup means based on the control coefficient.
