PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that a ghost image is prevented from being formed and the display luminance of a virtual image is high by disposing a light emission type display device at the upper part so that light is emitted downward. SOLUTION: An indicating instrument (light emission type display device) 8 is provided with a display board 9, a valve (light source) 10, a needle 11 and a stepping motor (needle driving means) 12. The instrument 8, a plane mirror 14 and a concave mirror 15 are housed in a housing 16. The instrument 8 is arranged at the upper part of the housing 16, the mirror 14 is arranged at the lower part of the housing 16, and the mirror 15 is arranged at the rear part of the housing 16, respectively. A protection cover 17 is locked on the front of the housing 16 by a catch. The cover 17 is made of light transmissible resin such as acrylic and its transmissivity is about 30%. Thus, there is no possibility that display light L directly reaches an observer, and the ghost image is not formed. Since the lowering of luminance caused by a semi-transmission plate as in the conventional example is prevented, the display luminance of the virtual image is high and visibility is excellent.
