<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the switch capacity of the exchange by mapping packets to be included (e.g. CPS packets) whose number corresponds to a length of an exchange inclusive packet and a length of the concerned packets to be included onto one exchange inclusive packet so long as their header information has a common point. SOLUTION: In the case that destination information of consecutive CPS packets is identical to each other and corresponding VPI, CPI are the same, as many consecutive CPS packets as possible are inserted to a payload part of an ATM cell of a same exchange so long as the total length of the CPS packets can be contained in the payload of the ATM cell. For example, an input ATM cell processing circuit 400 of an exchange 15 gives information of a channel identifier of a header of the CPS packet to a control circuit 404 so as to provide a basis of identifying (a plurality of) CPS packets to be packed in the payload of the ATM cell in one exchange to the control circuit 404 and an input CPS packet buffer management circuit 408.</p> |
