PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase brake force, by applying a magnetic field to a brake drum or a brake disk, after focusing a magnetic field from a magnet. SOLUTION: An eddy current type deceleration unit includes a brake drum 7 joined with a rotating shaft 1, a guide cylinder 10 having an inner hollow part 13 with a rectangular cross section so as to be mounted on a non-revolution part like a frame, while the guide cylinder 10 faces the brake drum 7, magnet support tubes 14 and 14A at least one of them made of movable magnetic material, and stored in the inner hollow space 13, a plurality of magnets 24 and 24A joined at intervals around a peripheral face of the magnet support tubes 24 and 24A, and a ferromagnetic plate 15 cast into a part opposite to each magnet 24 and 24A of the guide cylinder 10. The peripheral length of the ferromagnetic plate 15 is about one-half to two-thirds of the peripheral length of the magnet 24 or 24A. As a result, brake force based on the eddy current from the magnetic field of magnets 24 and 24A is generated at the brake drum 7.
