PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate designs of the respective parts of an alternator for a vehicle, and especially, suppress deterioration of the noise and the decrease of the wind quantity of its cooling fan when decelerating the vehicle, when the discharging angles of the blades of its cooling fan are varied by the centrifugal force thereof. SOLUTION: A shaft 14 of a rotor 10 has a pulley unit 20 for transmitting a rotational power in only one direction to have the rotor 10 rotate freely, when decelerating a vehicle. On the rear side of the rotor 10, there is provided a cooling fan 17, the discharging angles of whose fan-blades are varied by its centrifugal force, when it is rotated. By the action of the pulley unit 20, the inertia force of the rotor 10 is reduced when decelerating the vehicle, so as to keep proper the values of the discharging angles of the fan blades.
