PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical disk device which reproduces information without an error even when the kind of a disk is changed. SOLUTION: In the optical disk device, light beams emitted from a laser light source irradiate an optical disk, a light receiving section receives reflected light beams from the disk and outputs RF signals, the outputted RF signals are binarized, decoded and the information signals recoroded on the disk are reproduced. The optical device is provided with a light receiving level detecting section 10, which detects the level of the light beams received by the light receiving section, an equalizer 9, which changes the frequency characteristic of the RF signals outputted from the light receiving section, and a control section 13 which varies the characteristic of the equalizer 9 in accordance with the level of the received light beams detected by the section 10.
