PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent channels from being blocked by condensed water while preventing a voltage drop to the utmost. SOLUTION: As shown in Figure (a), both fans F1, F2 are driven so as to generate an air flow from the right to the left, thus sending air into all cells from the right to the left. Humidity and temperature increase with time within air channels. Cell voltage beings to drop as the humidity and temperature become uneven. The drop of cell voltage is periodically detected with respect to a fixed number of cells. If the detected value of any cell is lower than a set value, the drive of the fan F1 is changed to generate an air flow from the left to the right, as shown in Figure (b). Further, based on the detected value of cell voltage, the drive of the fan F2 is changed to generate an air flow from the left to the right, as shown in Figure (c). Repetition of above operation to change the air-flow direction based on detected cell voltage enables the humidity and temperature in the fuel cells to be uniformed, and thus phenomena such as channel blocking by water can be beforehand prevented. |
