PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate between top and bottom of a capstan. SOLUTION: This vertically arraying device is one that arrays capstans in one direction by discriminating between top and bottom of the capstan 10 for which surface processing is carried out over a prescribed range. In a part of a capstan feeding means 61A, a rotor 70 is installed that can rotate with the capstan loaded, as is a sensor 71 that discriminates between the top and bottom of the capstan loaded on this rotor; after the rotor is rotated, the directivity of the capstan is discriminated on the basis of thickness of a washer installing part; and, after the tops and bottoms of the capstans are aligned respectively, the capstans are forwarded. If the capstan is upside down, revolving speed of the rotor is controlled. Inversion of the top and bottom can be discriminated based on difference in the thickness between the washer installing part and a lower half part.
