PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a gas and fire alarm device and a diagnostic method capable of self-diagnosing the existence/absence of respective abnormalities of a gas sensor, a fire sensor and an alarming part and simplifying a function inspection in a manufacturing process thereby reducing manufacturing max hours. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a gas sensor 1 detecting gas leakage, a fire sensor 7 for detecting a fire, a LED 21 and an audio buzzer 19 generating an alarm on the basis of at least either a fire detection signal detected by the sensor 7 or a gas detection signal detected by the sensor 1, and a self- diagnosing part 13 for diagnosing the existence/absence of each of the abnormalities of the LED 21, the buzzer 19 and the sensors 7 and 1 on the basis of a self-diagnosis start signal inputted from a self-diagnosis start pin P1. Then, diagnostic results obtained by the part 13 are outputted to the LED 21 and the buzzer 19.
