The lifting device comprises a lever pivoted on a support plate and able to engage a support stop on the frame. The lever is subjected to a resilient return means (20,21) to cause its tipping into a waiting position in the direction of the stop once the door opens. The resilient return means push back the lever in either one direction (22) or another (23) relative to the support plate. Retractable retaining means (20,21) prevent tipping of the lever so that the elimination or retraction of one of the retaining means causes the tipping of the lever in a specified direction.
