PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device fault detection system capable of detecting that the frequency of retries has become higher upon accessing to a disk device. SOLUTION: When the disk device 20 is accessed by an operating system 11, an access time clocking means 12 clocks access time from the point of time of generating an access request to the completion of the access and supplies the clocked access time to a fault detection means 13. In the case the occurrence frequency of the phenomenon that the access time exceeds preset allowable time exceeds a preset allowable condition, the fault detection means 13 judges that the disk device 20 is a fault. The fault detection means 13 generates a fault information file inside the disk device 20 and stores information for indicating that the access time exceeds the allowable time. The operating system 11 displays the fact that the disk device 20 is the fault on the screen of an image display device or the like, based on the contents of the fault information file. |
