The stop roller is formed by the front roller. The rollers are resiliently mounted by using rubber metal bearings (4). The brake anchor (5) can be rigidly connected to the roller support on the boot by fixing screws (7). The rubber metal bearings of the stop roller can be so taut that there is no brake action during normal load. When the load on the stop roller is increased (by shifting body weight) the rubber metal bearings compress and the brake anchor is pressed through the brake lining onto the brake drum connected to the tread surface so that a brake action is produced. The stop roller can be fitted in place of normal rollers without changing the boot structure.
