The device has a gas chamber (1) for accommodating compressed gas and at least two pyrotechnic charges (10,22) for generating gas, whereby each charge has a mass of at least 5 per cent of the mass of the compressed gas and the two charges are both arranged outside the gas chamber on different sides. An Independent claim is also included for a motor safety device with an inflatable hybrid device.
