METHOD AND INSTALLATION FOR MAKING AN OPTICAL FIBRE

The invention concerns a discontinuous method for making an optical fibre in polymer materials, the fibre core being based on methyl methacrylate. Said method is implemented in an in-line installation sealed from outside, starting from a raw material purifying device and moving up to a spinning device, passing through an intermediate storage zone. The fibre core is prepared from polymer beads based on purified methyl methacrylate obtained by polymerisation in an aqueous suspension. The invention also concerns an in-line installation for implementing said method.
