The invention provides a portable serving device (10) for holding and dispensing consumables. The serving device (10) comprises a serving tray (11) including a tray body (12) having a top face (16), a bottom face (18), a front end (20), a rear end (22) and two sides (24, 26) that extend between the front (20) and rear ends (22), and defining a first recess formation (30) that extends downwardly from the top face (16), the serving tray (11) including a lid (32) that is mounted on the tray body (12) for closing off the recess formation (30) thereby forming a compartment in which consumables can be held. The serving tray (11) also includes heat-insulating means for insulating the compartment and sealing means that is disposed between the lid (32) and the tray body (12) for rendering the compartment liquid-tight. The serving device (10) also includes a harness (14) that is secured to the serving tray (11) and that can be located around a person's body for carrying the serving tray (11) in a generally horizontal orientation for dispensing consumables therefrom.
